Examination Copy / Desk Copy Policy

To receive a free examination copy of one of my books: please write me on your departmental letterhead or send an e-mail from your educational institution with the following information:

The title of the book requested
The title (not the course number) of the course for which the book is being considered
Expected enrollment
When the course will be offered
The statement: "I have not previously received an examination or desk copy of this book."
Your name and title
The complete school address to which the book should be sent

I will send one examination copy per school.

To receive a free desk copy of one of my books: when the order has been placed with your bookstore, fill in a Desk Copy Request Form, obtainable from your bookstore, and I will send you one free copy for instructional use.

In place of a Desk Copy Request Form, I will accept a letter on departmental stationery or an e-mail from your educational institution containing the following information:

The title of the book requested;
The title (not the course number) of the course for which the book is being considered
The total number of books ordered by your bookstore
The statement: "I have not previously received an examination or desk copy of this book."
Your name and title
The complete school address to which the book should be sent

I will provide one desk copy for every 25 students who purchase the book. Upon your request, I will give you a new desk copy after you have used the first one for three years.

Please note: If I already sent you an examination copy, that will be your desk copy.
