READ THIS FIRST: If you absolutely must see two columns on the screen as you type, then AVScripter is not for you. If you are willing to give up WYSIWYG while writing, in exchange for never again worrying about keeping stuff lined up in parallel columns, numbering your scenes, adjusting scenes for page breaks, and so on, then AVScripter may be for you.
If you want pretty printing of your script, please go elsewhere, since AVScripter prints out only in monospace Courier, like this, and the only option is to underline certain words.
AVScripter was originally released as shareware.
I now declare it as freeware; anybody can use it as long as you don't
try to sell it yourself. Ignore any notices about payment in the documentation.
As freeware, please don't expect any support from me. However, if you get
in a real bind and I have time, I'll try to help you out. The program is so
simple and intuitive that I don't think you'll have any problems using it.
You can download the complete working shareware program (82K), which includes a 22-page manual you can print out. The shareware version is limited to single-spaced scripts. If you want more advanced features, the 47-page printed manual explaining all the neat things AVScripter can do, such as creating a sorted scene list for your production breakdowns, is available as a Microsoft Word file, AVS41Manual.doc. You should also print out Windows tips for current users.
Unlike programs that graphically create two columns on your computer screen, AVScripter works with full-screen-width ASCII text files created with your own word processor.
Working with the whole screen, you see more text on the screen at one time and you don't have to continually jump back and forth from one column to the other. Block moves and editing are simple, because you don't have to worry about keeping the appropriate audio and video lines opposite each other. Nor do you have to worry about renumbering your scenes or pages or fiddling with your page breaks every time you make a change. AVScripter does it all for you, automatically.
Complicated formats like single-spaced video columns with double-spaced audio columns are calculated automatically by AVScripter. All you have to worry about is content.
This is what AVScripter does with your full-screen ASCII text file:
