AVScripter Frequently Asked Questions and Answers [Home] [AVScripter Overview]
What kind of computer will AVScripter run on? AVScripter will run on any IBM-compatible computer using MS-DOS 2.1 or later. It will also run on any Windows platform. See Windows 95/98 tips for current users.
How much RAM do I need for AVScripter? You need 195K RAM; since even the oldest computers have a minimum of 640K, this should be no problem.
How much disk space does AVScripter take up? The program file, AVSCRIPT.EXE, takes up 127K. AVScripter also requires work space on your disk depending on the size of your script; a typical 20-page script will need about 64K disk work space. This work space is freed up again when you exit AVScripter.
Will AVScripter work with my word processor? AVScripter will work with any MS-DOS or Windows word processor capable of creating a standard ASCII text file. WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, and many other programs can do this easily. Others, such as Microsoft Works, create generic word processing text files, so I've included a utility program to convert these files to standard ASCII for use by AVScripter.
What kind of printer do I need? AVScripter will print out perfectly on any IBM-compatible printer that is capable of printing 80 columns wide.
Do I need to install a special setup for my printer? AVScripter requires no special printer setup. On PostScript printers, you'll have to switch to plain printer or LaserJet mode.
Will AVScripter run under Windows? AVScripter is a well-behaved DOS program and, as such, runs fine in the Windows DOS compatibility box. I include simple setup instructions so you can click on the AVScripter icon and run it just like a Windows program.
Will AVScripter run on a Macintosh? No. However, AVScripter has been run successfully under the MS-DOS emulation program, SoftPC. Some users create their ASCII script files on Macs, then transfer the files to MS-DOS machines for formatting and printing with AVScripter.
Will AVScripter run on an Amiga? No.
Can I get a discount if I buy more than one copy? Yes. I'll be glad to send you a schedule of fees for multiple user site licenses.
What kind of support will you give me after the sale? For a forty-dollar niche program, I can't afford a toll-free help line. However, you can call me, write me, or e-mail me on CompuServe and I will assist you in any way I can. The program is so simple, and the instruction manual so complete, that 99% of AVScripter purchasers are using the program successfully within minutes of opening the package.
